Greetings and Salutations (quick, what movie is that from??).   Sorry for the recent high-aye-tus.  Get it.  HIGH…hiatus….five-style-high….forget it.  I’m lame.  I’ve been off with the hubby buying a lil’ piece of property.  Also known as “buying our first home” which is both stressful and exhilarating at he same time.  Thankfully, we just got our final approval and are now moving.  In 2 weeks.  Yeah.   You might not hear too much from me until that beast is put to bed and we are comfy in our new digs.

Anyway, I’m way behind in my monthly awesome box of nifty delivery updates so I’m just gonna basically blast you with 3 back to back.  We’ll start with my fiance’ the Birchbox.

Anything and everything you need to know about this phenomenally packaged beauty box subscription is found in some previous posts written by yours truly:

The Love Story Continues…

Yes, Birchbox.  I will Marry You.

If you wanna get a monthly Birchbox subscription for only $10 per month, which would make you just as awesome as me and about 5 bazillion other lucky ladies, click here. It’s totally fun and totally worth it.  Totally.  Totes.  Now on to the goodies from February and March:

Benta Berry (G-1 Moisturizing Face Cream):  Haven’t tried this yet.  Packaging is nifty.  I like the font.  Find it:  here

Colorescience pro (glow and go Travel Puff):  I’m in love we these lil’ travel packets.  These went straight to the purse.  Find it:  here

Eye Rock (Designer Liner):  These are so fun, although I’m waiting to rock em’ until I have a trendy event to attend..or Halloween.  Whichever comes first.  Find it:  here

LA Fresh (Eco-Beauty Waterproof Makeup Remover):  More fun packets!  Love em’.  In my pocket-book, my satchel and my knapsack.  Just kidding.  They are in my purse.  Find it:  here

The Lifestyle Extra for Feb.  was a cute, heart-shaped nail file.  They also threw in a Birchbox Digital Download for 6 free Green River Ordinance songs.  I’ll be honest, I didn’t listen to the songs until, well now.  I’m listening as I type.  If you dig emo-esque indie rock, these guys are right up your ally.  I’m “in-like” with them.  Not quite love…but we could possibly get there with time.

I have to say I was the most excited for my March box, so far.  When I opened it, it had so many fun goodies!  Here’s what my “Spring Training” box included:

Deborah Lippman (The Stripper to Go):  Um.  Yes.  Double Yes to another awesome packet of “on the go” beauty must have’s for my purse.  LOVE. Find it:  here.

Miss Jessie’s Original (Quick Curls):  So this was the most exciting to me because it was a really good size sample (I would consider it a full size if there wasn’t an actual “full-size” version).  Sadly, it didn’t work too well in my hair.  I mean, if I was goin’ for the dreadlocks look, I’d be irie-mon.  I will give it another try again and maybe not use as much.  I just personally thought it was sticky and the next morning when I woke up, I was a dread-head.  poop.  Find it:  here.

One Love Organics (Skin Savior Waterless Beauty Balm):  There’s that word I hate again.  Balm.  I f-ing HATE that word, but this product is absolutely scrumptious. Well, it’s not like I ate it or anything, but it’s so darn cute, I almost couldn’t resist from giving it a lick.  It’s actually a 2-in-1 cleanser/moisturizer.  I have no idea how to use it.  Not sure if it’s for my face, foot, hot-bod or what.  But, I’m most-def gonna give er’ a go and let you know what I think.  Find it: here  UPDATE:  Here’s why I’m an idiot.  I just happened to actually read the write-up that Birchbox provides at point of purchase for their products and there are the handy-dandy directions for how to apply and what it’s for.  Ha!  Who-da-thunk-it.

Peter Thomas Roth (Anti-aging Cleansing Gel):  Unfortch, I won’t be using this product. Only because I have recently found the BEST, hands down, cleanser that I’ve ever used in my life.  Don’t worry, I’m going to be totally bragging about it super-duper soon.  In the meantime, I’ll give you a hint, just in case your feelin’ Inspector-gadgety:  It’s in this post.  For those of you that want to know more about the Peter Thomas Roth Cleanser, find it: here.

Last, but certainly not least…we have the Stila (Smoky Eye Card):  Yippee!  Who doesn’t like a good, smokey-eye.  I know, that I do.  I particularly like when cards like this make it into my birchy-box because it gives me a little tutorial, which is a huge plus, since I’m oh-so-very cosmetically challenged.  I haven’t given this guy a try yet either – but I’m stoked to do so.  Love the color names:  Kitten (hee hee), Diamond lil and Ebony.  Find it (the full-size trio that is):  here.

Oh yes – the Lifestyle Extra in the March box, was Tea!  I loved the way the box smelled when I opened it up, thanks to Kusmi Tea (Detox Tea), which is a detoxifying blend of mate (what the?), Green tea, and Lemongrass.  yummy.  Find it: here.  The packaging is to die for cute!

P.S. I have been listening to the Green River Ordinance while typin’ away and went from “in-like” to “totally-diggin”.  Hooray!

It’s no secret that I’m a lover of  “monthly subscriptions” and “of-the-months“.  It is the absolute most fun receiving cute little packages each month.  You should try it, at least one of them, at least once.  You can cancel most of them whenever you’d like without selling off your first born or anything, so that I consider a bonus.

My current monthly flames are Maghound, Birchbox and Foodzie so that I can get my magazine, beauty and snack fix.  I’m totally stoked to report that I just snagged a Cravebox subscription as well, which is a box that kinda-sorta blends the Birchbox and Foodzie concepts together (think “secret lovechild”).  I have heard through the grapevine that my Cravebox is on its way to me as we speak.  I will be sure to provide my official opinion on it’s awesome status as soon as the stork drops it off.  Until, then, here’s the most up to date info on my other loves (starting with BirchBox):

FYI, me and Birchbox are still in a pretty serious relationship.  For those of you unfamiliar with Birchbox, it’s an awesome monthly beauty box subscription that’ll only cost you $10 bucks a month!  The full skinny is here and, I also talk about it here.  Anyway, when Birchbox came into my life, I took the plunge and circled yes, and now I’m it’s girlfriend.  I’m not a very good girlfriend though because I haven’t talked about my lover since November!  Since then, I’ve received 2 beautifil Birchboxes and I’m stoked to tell you what I got.  So, without further adieu:

Frolic & Fancy (December Box)

Harvey Prince (Yogini) – I’m sad to say that this was probably one of the more disgusting perfume samples I’ve sniffed.  It gave me an instant headache, although I’m super picky when it comes to fragrance, so take it for what it’s worth.

Jouer (Moisturizing Lip Gloss in Birchbox Pink) – I was pleasantly surprised with the way this looked on my lips given it’s beautifully insane custom Birchbox fuchsia color.  The bad news is that I’m becoming increasingly convinced that Jouer lip products give me chapped lips (had the issue with this product as well as their limp plumper).  I’m interested to hear if anyone else has experienced this, so please let me know!  I just might be a weirdo and am hoping that it’s just coincidence.

L’Oreal Professional  (Mythic Oil) – Was STOKED to get this sample as I have extremely dry hair and am always looking for new products to oil up my mane.  I usually use Moraccan Oil which, I’m sorta married to at this point.  BUT, the Mythic Oil worked good too, so I will definitely be keeping it on the radar.

Befine (Gentle Cleanser) – Some weird observations – 1.  Smells like tree bark.  I was expecting a really fresh, clean smell and I kind of felt like I had just stuck my nose in a pile of mud.  2.  Is this supposed to be watery?  I mean, to the point where I can’t really figure out how to apply it?  Oddly enough, this really worked well on my skin (I just sorta squeezed it all over my face), despite the previous observations.  I have rosacea and it made my skin feel totally clean, soft and did not make me went a face transplant, so that in itself makes this product pretty frackin’ awesome.

PREP ShowStoppers (Designer Fashion Tape) – These double-sided tape strips are  the BOMB.   I always have some sort of fashion tape on hand to avoid any “celebrity oops” moments.  They are also really good for fixing a seam / hem or holding a rogue belt flap down.  I actually haven’t used this particular sample yet – it’s in my purse for emergencies though, and I plan on buying these guys with my current Birchbox referral credit.

RECHARGE EBOOST (Orange Natural Energy Booster) – Drinking this as we speak and I have to say that it is WAY too sugary tasting for my palette.  To me, it tastes like Orange Pop (soda) and I hate it.  If you like Orange Pop though, you will probably dig it.  The jury is still out on weather or not this boosts my energy or immunity.  I’ll keep you posted if I end up ping-ponging off my walls later.

Clarity (January 2012 box)

Borghese (CuraForte Moisture Intensifier) – I have not tried this baby out yet, but am jazzed to give it a whirl.  The full size version is 10 million dollars, but I will totally become a stripper to pay for it, if it moisturizes my insanely dry skin.

Juicy Couture (Viva La Juicy) – I really thought I would have liked this, until I smelled it on myself and then I had to take an immediate shower to get it off of my skin. I’m a fragrance snob though,  so you should totally try it out for yourself.

Jouer (Body Butter) – I have to admit that I don’t think I’ve ever tried “body butter”. It sounds fabulous though, so I’m trying this out tomorrow.

Stila (Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner) – This is probably my most fave Birchbox present to date.  It is a FULL SIZE PRODUCT which costs double the $10 bucks I paid for this month’s box.  It’s a gorgeous bluey-gray color and it really makes my tie-dye eyes pop.  I’ve always been a liner-smudger, so this lil’ guy just made my day.

The “Lifestyle Extra” this month was a LARABAR (Mini Bar)I’m eating it right now, I just ate it and it was pretty tasty.  Love the texture of this “Gluten Free, Dairy Free, Soy Free, Non-GMO, Vegan, Kosher, Fruit & Nut Food Bar”.  Yikes –   That was a mouthful…and, I also just said “Yikes”.

I have to say that this was a pretty fun box for me.  In addition to the Stila Smudge stick, there was an extra card (coupled with an adorable Birchbox Logo magnet) that included a bunch of “mini-detoxes” for your mind, relationships, closet, diet and bathroom cabinet.  So much fun!  Get your Birchbox subscription here ;)

Stay tuned for the Foodzie Box and Cravebox updates, coming soon!

If you know me (either in “real life” or via blog-o-verse), you know by now my new loves in life are monthly subscriptions of a sorta different kind.  Most of us think of magazines or newspapers when we think of subscriptions.  BUT, what I’m about to share with you is the juiced-up version of what you are probably used to.

I’m a total kid at heart and love getting little packages in the mail – so, obviously I’m obsessed with any company that offers this to me every month for a reasonable subscription fee.  If you keep reading further, I’m going to peer-pressure you into getting presents monthly too.  Come on, do it.  Just keep reading and I’ll totally brainwash…I mean, convince you why monthly subscriptions of the “juiced up” kind are the newest, latest most awesome-ist gift you can give to YOURSELF (and, well others too if you wanna be the party show-off).  And now, in no particular order…

BIRCHBOX:  If you’ve been checking out the rest of this site, you’ve seen a bit here and there about my new marriage with Birchbox.  Don’t worry, I haven’t divorced the scientist.  I’ve just become a polygamist so that I can have the best of all worlds.  Why wouldn’t I?

When you sign up for Birchbox (for just $10 bucks a month) you will receive a wonderfully packaged box of beauty samples handpicked by veteran beauty editors.  Let me tell you that the packaging alone is worth the subscription fee.  They do such a fantastic job, delivering high quality and I would attest to that a million times over.

Once you get your samples and try them, you log in to your profile (which drives some of the samples you get) and you get points for simple reviews.  Once you get 100 points, you get $10 credited to your account to use towards the purchase of the full-size versions of your samples.  You can opt to receive emails, which provide excellent beauty tips, and additional ways to earn more points.  And, when you invite friends, you get 50 points after their first box ships.

I’m not sure why you are still reading this instead of clicking here and signing up to start getting beauty presents.

MAGHOUND:  This dog is on my wish list fo-sho.  I think this is SUCH a cool idea and a great way to become a more well-rounded human being (hypothetically, obviously).   Maghound represents themselves as the “Magazine lovers best friend”.  I just love everything about this site – the concept, the creativity behind the brand, everything.

So basically, you sign up for a membership (either 3 mags a month, 7 mags a month, or more).  You pay one (1) itty-bitty subscription fee a month for ALL your magazines (i.e. $4.95 / month for 3 magazine titles).  Then, you can keep or switch out your titles whenever you want.  Maybe for the first month, you get a style magazine, celebrity gossip mag and something occupation-based.  Maybe the next month, you want to switch out the occupation-based one for a bridal mag because you’re helping to plan your BFF’s wedding shower.  All ya do is log in and change it out.  It really is that simple.  Check em’ out here.

It’s time for some food.   Another amigo of mine is Foodzie (aka “Christmas for my belly”) as noted here and hereFoodzie has actually changed a little since my last post.  I touched upon it there, but now I actually understand what is happening so here’s the deal:  The “Foodzie Tasting Box” is now $29.95 per month and it really is so worth it if you are a food-love-a like me and my fat belly.  You get to choose the type of Tasting Box you’d like each month – for example – the December options are:  “2011 Stocking Stuffer Favorites”,  “Holiday Cookies”, “Bacon & Bourbon” or “Talk Jerky to Me”.

For the extra $10 / month (it used to be $19.00 /month) – this is really worth it as you don’t get teensy-weensy tastes.  Last month’s box (which was in the new $29.95 format and essentially monstrous compared to my first box) had full size products in it.  SO worth it.  Bonus is that when you find stuff you like, you can buy the products via the Foodzie marketplace.  SO worth it.

(P.S. I know I said “So Worth it” several times here.  That’s because it is.  So very worth it.)

Number 4:

I’m gonna stick on the food kick for a second longer to talk about Freshology.  If I was a little bit richer, I would sign up for this in a HEARTBEAT.  But, I’m not, so it’s goin’ on my wish list.  Even though it will make me totally jealous, I do still want to share this site with you, so that if you happen to be richer than I, you can test this out and rub it in my face.

You might have already heard of this since it’s been all over the media due to it’s celebrity endorsement and usage by the dancers on Dancing with the Stars.  I would basically sell my car to raise enough dough to try this program.  Ok, I lied. I don’t even have a car since I live in Boston.  BUT, if I did, I’d totally sell it so I could try this out.

Freshology is “gourmet home diet delivery to your door”.  Yeah.  To your f-ing door!  I feel like this is something that so many people have always wished they could have (“if i was a celebrity, I’d have a personal chef to make all my healthy meals and then I’d be skinnier”) but never thought they could.  Well, for as little as $35.95 per day YOU can (not me though, cause’ you are richer than me).   You have to sign up for a minimum of 2 weeks.  In that, you get a gourmet menu to choose from that includes brake-fast, lunch, din-din and a dessert.  Everything is made with all natural proteins, and with the $35.95 package it’s delivered 1 time per week by FedEx (since it’s frozen).  If you are super loaded, you can opt for fresh meals which start at around $49.95  per day.

I am BEGGING someone to try this and report back to see if it’s everything I dream it to be.  Please, oh please make me envy you.

I couldn’t leave my fellow organic/eco-awesome friends out of this fantastic mix of presents.  Eco-Emi looks totally cool and is on my radar to try next.  For $15 ducks a month (well – dollars, not really ducks) you get 5-10 “natural, organic, green, eco-friendly or Fair-Trade product” samples.  These packages look so cute and seem like a great solution for someone like me, who is trying to learn more about going-green and natural but doesn’t know a whole lot about it.  It looks like, all the links to buy the full size versions are supplied on her website too.  I promise to provide an update once I’ve signed up and received my first box.  Or if you do it first, then you tell me about it.  Win-win, either way.
